Javokhir Sindarov holds a strong 70% implied probability in the 2026 World Chess Championship market primarily due to his record-breaking victory in the 2026 Candidates Tournament, where he clinched qualification with a round to spare and posted one of the highest scores in the modern double round-robin format. The Uzbek grandmaster has maintained elite classical form since, climbing to world No. 4 with a peak rating near 2778, while reigning champion Gukesh Dommaraju has endured a prolonged slump across multiple 2026 events, including poor results at Tata Steel, Prague, Norway Chess, and Chennai Grand Masters that dropped his ranking and rating. Recent comments from Magnus Carlsen on September 10 reinforced trader sentiment by labeling Sindarov the clear favorite ahead of the November–December match in Geneva, though noting the drawish nature of classical chess and Gukesh’s potential to shift momentum with an early lead.
