Juan Pablo Ficovich and Luka Pavlovic meet in the first round of the Morelia Challenger on outdoor hard courts, where the 1,900-meter altitude favors big servers with flatter trajectories. The 29-year-old Argentine Ficovich, ranked No. 507, advanced through qualifying with a gritty three-set win over Mikolaj Lis on Sunday, snapping a four-match losing skid and boosting momentum after early exits in prior events. Younger Serb Pavlovic, No. 549, enters directly off a strong Challenger run last week, including a quarterfinal in Mexico City, showcasing improved baseline play. No head-to-head history exists; both acclimating to thin air could spark upsets, with no reported injuries but late weather shifts possible in forecasts. Recent qualifier edge gives Ficovich slight situational rest advantage.
