Roman Safiullin meets Pablo Llamas Ruiz in the Alicante Challenger semifinals on outdoor clay, both surging with dominant quarterfinal wins yesterday—Safiullin dispatching Max Houkes 6-4 6-1 after straight-set triumphs over Gilles Arnaud Bailly and Jan Choinski, while Llamas Ruiz crushed Edas Butvilas 6-1 6-2 following earlier romps over Ilya Ivashka and a qualifier. The No. 216-ranked Russian leverages career-high No. 36 experience and momentum from sparse 2026 play, facing a resurgent No. 191 Spaniard thriving on home clay (2026: multiple deep Challenger runs including Tenerife finals) post-wrist injury recovery. No head-to-head exists; trader consensus weighs Safiullin's all-court edge against Llamas Ruiz's baseline grinding and crowd boost in this stamina test.
