Recent high-profile auction results, including Jackson Pollock’s *Number 7A* fetching $181.2 million in May 2026 and a Gustav Klimt portrait reaching $236 million in late 2025, have kept Yes traders active by demonstrating strong demand at the ultra-high end. Yet the market remains nearly even at 52% for No because subsequent summer sales have lacked comparable seven-figure hammer prices, reflecting typical seasonal cooling and cautious consignments amid broader recalibration in the fine-art sector. Key swing factors include the fall evening sales at Christie’s and Sotheby’s, where major estates or rediscovered masterpieces could push another lot past the threshold before year-end; sustained private-sale opacity and any softening in overall auction totals would instead reinforce the current slim edge for No.
