Donna Vekic, seeded No. 2 in qualifiers at No. 117 WTA, faces a stylistic test against local Sachia Vickery (No. 704) on Charleston's green clay, where Vickery holds a 1-0 head-to-head edge from a 2023 US Open upset. Vekic's 2026 form stands at 7-8, highlighted by a Miami qualifying second-round loss to Lulu Sun last week after beating Whitney Osuigwe, following an Indian Wells upset over Jessica Pegula; her clay pedigree shines via Olympic silver but recent slumps temper expectations. Vickery enters 2-5 on the year amid ITF losses to Cadence Brace and Sarah Rokusek, yet home crowd support and prior win fuel trader consensus for a tight matchup with upset potential.
