Raphael Collignon enters as the top seed and defending champion at the clay-court Monza Challenger, where he captured the 2025 title by defeating Vitaliy Sachko in the final, riding a strong surge with upsets over Denis Shapovalov and Grigor Dimitrov in recent ATP events before a third-round exit to Tommy Paul in Miami. Christopher O'Connell, meanwhile, struggles with a 2-5 record in 2026, including a qualifying loss to Marton Fucsovics in Miami and a first-round defeat to Mariano Navone in Bucharest last week, marking his fourth straight loss. No prior head-to-head exists; Collignon's superior clay form (17-8 over the past year) and higher ranking (around No. 65) contrast O'Connell's hard-court preference, though the Australian's experience could test the Belgian in this first-round clash on outdoor clay with no reported injuries.
