Alaska's open 2026 gubernatorial contest and tight U.S. Senate matchup between incumbent Republican Dan Sullivan and Democratic challenger Mary Peltola drive the elevated "Other" outcome at 50 percent, as traders price in a fragmented field of 17 governor candidates ahead of the August 18 top-four primary and ranked-choice general election. Recent polls show Peltola edging Sullivan in some surveys while others give the Republican a narrow lead, keeping party sweeps competitive but not dominant at 35 percent for Democrats and 31.5 percent for Republicans. The open governor seat, with no incumbent advantage and multiple viable contenders across parties, increases the likelihood of split results such as a Republican governor paired with a Democratic senator or vice versa. These dynamics reflect the wisdom of crowds in assigning higher probability to mixed or non-major-party outcomes than to unified partisan control.

A candidate will be considered to represent a party by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with the party. Candidates who run as independents will not be encompassed by the “Democrat” or “Republican” options regardless of any affiliation they may have with the party.
If the results of these elections are not conclusively known by March 31, 2027, or if an independent or third-party candidate wins one of these elections, this market will resolve to "Other".
For purposes of this market, a "sweep" is when a party wins both races.
The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources have conclusively called the relevant Senate and Gubernatorial elections. If all three sources do not achieve consensus in calling the relevant races for this market, it will resolve based on the official certification.
