Surrey Women enter the July 5 Vitality Blast Women fixture against Essex Women as the stronger side, sitting near the top of the South Group with a 5-2 record and superior net run rate while defending their title. Essex, mired in a run of losses and placed lower in the standings, rely heavily on captain Grace Scrivens for stability after key absences, including Cordelia Griffith’s season-ending leg injury. Surrey’s balanced attack and recent match-winners like Jemima Spence provide clear advantages in T20 power-hitting and bowling depth. Essex will seek home-ground momentum at Chelmsford and a reversal of June’s Oval defeat, but Surrey’s form and squad resources shape trader consensus around their implied probability of victory. Schedule congestion and any late weather or selection updates remain secondary variables.
