Kaitlyn Carnicella, the 21-year-old American with a strong college background at South Carolina, meets 18-year-old Brazilian Carolina Bohrer Martins on the clay courts of the ITF W50 Pelham. Martins enters with recent qualifying success in the event, highlighted by a straight-sets win over Rachael Smith, while Carnicella arrives after mixed results in prior U.S. ITF events including a loss in Bethany Beach. The clay surface favors baseline consistency and endurance, areas where the South American often holds an edge in regional competition. Limited head-to-head history and both players' early pro careers mean recent form, physical freshness, and adaptation to the conditions will shape the outcome in this early-round singles matchup.
