The 2026–27 NB I season opened in late July with a new relegation structure in which the 12th-placed side drops automatically and 11th enters a single-leg playoff against the NB II runner-up. Early results have placed Kispest Honvéd and Zalaegerszegi TE at the foot of the table after six rounds, while mid-table sides such as Kisvárda and Nyíregyháza have shown inconsistent form. Summer transfer activity, including departures from promoted or rebuilding squads and reinforcements at established clubs, has shaped pre-season expectations. Trader consensus reflects these opening-week performances and the historical vulnerability of sides with limited squad depth or poor recent head-to-head records against the league’s stronger teams.
