South Africa enters the third Test of Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry at altitude in Johannesburg as the clear market favorite after leveling the four-match series with a clinical 33-26 victory in Cape Town. The Springboks dominated the gain line and breakdown in the first half, with captain Siya Kolisi’s return producing a try, Jesse Kriel and Damian de Allende crossing early, and Cheslin Kolbe converting three tries plus four penalties for 18 points. New Zealand scored four tries but struggled at the lineout and set piece before a late rally fell short. The All Blacks’ opening 33-16 win in Johannesburg showcased their attacking threat under Dave Rennie, yet the back-to-back world champions’ home record, recent physical improvements, and the high-altitude venue position South Africa with the strongest implied probability heading into the September 5 clash.
