Giulia Safina Popa, the 16-year-old Romanian ranked near 777, faces fellow Romanian Bianca Barbulescu, ranked around 583, in the second round of the ITF W15 Szentendre on clay. Popa enters after a straight-sets win in the opening round, showcasing her aggressive baseline game as a junior transitioning to the pro circuit with limited senior experience. Barbulescu brings greater consistency and a stronger 2026 win-loss record, along with more ITF-level matches under her belt on the surface. Both players share similar national backgrounds, but the age and ranking gap highlights contrasting paths, with form in recent clay events and adaptation to the slower conditions likely shaping the outcome in this low-tier draw.
