The 2027 Best Adapted Screenplay race remains wide open on Polymarket, with numerous titles clustered near 50% implied probability reflecting the early stage and absence of decisive precursors. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey holds an edge among traders thanks to the director’s recent Academy momentum and the film’s prestige positioning, while The Black Ball benefits from strong Cannes buzz and critical reception for its ambitious Lorca-inspired narrative. Project Hail Mary draws support from its solid box office performance and commercial appeal, though voters historically favor more literary or guild-backed entries. Key swing factors include fall festival debuts, guild nominations from the WGA and PGA, and late-year critical consensus that could consolidate support ahead of January voting. Historical patterns show this category often rewards established directors and strong source material, yet the field’s fluidity leaves room for late surges from titles like Dune: Part Three or The Invite.
