SpaceX's January 2026 FCC filing for a million-satellite AI constellation and March unveiling of its AI1 compute satellite design, alongside Axiom Space's January launch of orbital nodes for AI/ML workloads, have anchored trader sentiment around ambitious timelines from leading players. NVIDIA-backed Starcloud's late-2025 in-orbit training of an LLM on an H100 GPU and Google's Project Suncatcher prototype target for early 2027 demonstrate accelerating hardware demonstrations, yet the market prices only a 2% chance of a qualifying data center (100+ accelerators) by end-2026 versus 25% by end-2027. Key swing factors include reusable launch economics, inter-satellite optical links at data-center scale, radiation-hardened chips, and FCC approvals amid competition from Blue Origin and Starcloud's larger proposed fleets. Upcoming catalysts center on Starcloud and Orbital's 2027 inference tests plus any Musk or regulatory updates on deployment scale.
