Seattle's overnight low on September 2, 2026, is shaped by a passing weather system bringing southerly winds, widespread cloud cover, and periods of light rain or showers. These conditions limit radiational cooling overnight by reducing outgoing longwave radiation and enhancing atmospheric mixing, keeping minimum temperatures near the long-term average of 55°F at Sea-Tac. Forecast models from sources like the National Weather Service and private providers converge on a low in the lower-to-mid 50s, yet small differences in timing of cloud breaks or wind gusts can shift the exact hourly minimum by several degrees. Trader consensus around the 52–57°F bins reflects this narrow uncertainty band, with lower-probability tails accounting for possible clearer intervals or stronger advection of milder marine air. Historical analogs from recent Septembers show similar synoptic setups rarely produce extremes outside this range.
