Scarlet Kavanagh, a 16-year-old British player ranked near 1360, faces 23-year-old Swiss Ayline Esina Samardzic (ranked around 1090) in the ITF W35 Verbier first round or qualifying stage on August 19. Samardzic holds a clear edge in experience, career matches, and consistency on the ITF circuit, while Kavanagh’s recent qualifier win over Victoria Carron highlights her aggressive baseline game but limited professional depth. The pair has no head-to-head record. Home-country scheduling, surface familiarity in Switzerland, and Samardzic’s higher ranking and physical maturity shape trader consensus toward the Swiss player, though Kavanagh’s youth and recent momentum introduce realistic upset potential in this low-tier event. No reported injuries or late withdrawals affect either side.
