Gerwyn Price enters the 2026 New Zealand Darts Masters opener against Mark Cleaver as the clear favorite, reflecting his status as a top-five world-ranked player with multiple 2026 titles and consistent 100-plus averages in Premier League and European Tour events. Price’s recent form includes a European Darts Grand Prix victory and strong televised showings, underscoring his experience in high-stakes PDC World Series matches. Cleaver, a New Zealand-based competitor with primarily domestic successes and a far lower international ranking, faces a significant stylistic and competitive gap in this first-round encounter. The matchup dynamics favor Price’s precision and scoring power on the bigger stage, aligning with trader consensus around the heavy implied probability for the Welshman. No reported injuries alter the outlook.
