Municipal elections are currently scheduled to be held in Czechia on October 9-10, 2026. The next mayor of Ostrava will be elected by the newly constituted council following the 2026 Czech municipal elections. This market will resolve to the first individual who officially assumes the role of Mayor of Ostrava following the 2026 Czech municipal elections. A qualifying individual must be elected mayor by the city council. Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Czechia and Ostrava. The municipal elections on October 9–10, 2026, will determine Ostrava’s next mayor through council composition and post-election coalition talks. Trader odds remain tightly clustered because multiple established players are contesting a fragmented field: incumbent Jan Dohnal leads the rebranded srdcOVA coalition of ODS, KDU-ČSL, TOP 09 and independents; ANO fields Richard Vereš with priorities on housing supply, parking and healthcare access; Pirates back Rostislav Řeha; local movement Ostravak is led by Lukáš Semerák; and SPD’s Peter Harvánek heads a separate list. National polling trends showing ANO strength have not yet translated into decisive local leads, while the absence of former long-serving mayor Tomáš Macura and the late-summer start of formal campaigning have kept early positioning fluid. Further separation is likely to emerge from the first published local surveys, candidate debates, coalition signals among smaller lists, and any late shifts in turnout or preference among key voter blocs in the city’s districts.
