This market will resolve according to which film earns the highest domestic box office gross for the weekend of September 25 - 27, 2026. The "Daily Box Office Performance" figures found on the "Box Office" tab on The Numbers (https://www.the-numbers.com/) will be used to resolve this market once the values for the 3-day weekend are final (i.e., not studio estimates). If two or more films are tied for the highest weekend gross, this market will resolve in favor of the film whose listed title comes first alphabetically. If none of the listed films earns the highest domestic weekend gross, this market will resolve to "Other". Please note, this market will resolve according to the The Numbers figures provided under Weekend Box Office Performance for the 3-day weekend (which typically includes Thursday's previews), regardless of whether domestic refers to only the USA, or to USA and Canada, etc. If there is ambiguity as to whether the resolution source's figures are final, this market will remain open until both https://www.boxofficemojo.com/ and https://www.the-numbers.com/ have confirmed their finalized figures. If there is no final data available by October 2, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, another credible resolution source will be chosen.Resident Evil’s record $60.2 million opening and strong critical reception position it as the frontrunner for this weekend’s domestic box office crown, with traders assigning it the highest implied probability among contenders. The Zach Cregger-directed horror reboot enters its second frame with robust word-of-mouth and IMAX screen access, while new wide releases including Avengers: Endgame Encore, Primetime, Heart of the Beast, and Forgotten Island are tracking in the mid-teens to low twenties. Multiple openers create a competitive field where final rankings hinge on presales, audience turnout, and holdover strength. Historical September patterns and rapid shifts in tracking underscore the uncertainty typical of crowded frames.
