Patrick Mahomes leads Chiefs Week 1 quarterback odds at 58.4% due to his ongoing recovery from the December 2025 ACL and LCL tears that ended his 2025 season. The three-time Super Bowl MVP received full clearance for training camp in late July 2026, has taken every first-team rep without setbacks, and signed an eight-year extension through 2033 in June. However, as of late August he had not yet gained final medical clearance for game action, leaving coach Andy Reid to proceed day-by-day ahead of the September 14 opener against Denver. Justin Fields, acquired via trade in March, and depth options including Chris Oladokun and rookie Garrett Nussmeier remain distant alternatives should Mahomes experience any late setback.

If the Chiefs do not name a single player as the starting quarterback, the market will resolve based on the player who takes the most snaps at quarterback during their first offensive drive of the game. If multiple players take the same number of snaps on the Chiefs’ first offensive drive, the market will resolve to the player who took the first snap at quarterback.
This market may not resolve before the start of the Chiefs’ Week 1 regular season game.
The resolution sources for this market will be official information from the NFL (NFL.com); however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
