Mike Evans enters the 2026 season with the San Francisco 49ers after signing a three-year deal in March, shifting from his long tenure with the Buccaneers. At age 33, he missed most of training camp with quad, groin, and abductor issues but returned to practice in early September and is expected to play in the Week 1 opener against the Rams in Australia. Other 49ers receiving options face setbacks, including George Kittle’s Achilles recovery and Ricky Pearsall’s season-ending knee injury, positioning Evans as a primary outside target for Brock Purdy despite limited preseason chemistry. His 2025 output was curtailed to 30 receptions across eight games by a clavicle fracture and hamstring problems, raising questions about durability and workload management under Kyle Shanahan.
