Nasim Nuñez holds a commanding lead in the 2026 stolen bases race with 46 steals through early September, outpacing Chandler Simpson's 41 and Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s 40, according to official MLB tracking. The Nationals infielder's consistent base-stealing volume, supported by his team's aggressive approach and favorable matchups, has widened his edge in recent weeks. Simpson remains the primary challenger but trails by a margin that limits realistic catch-up potential with roughly three weeks remaining. Traders price Nuñez at 81.5% implied probability, reflecting his sustained production and the narrow window for others like Bobby Witt Jr. or Pete Crow-Armstrong to close the gap through late-season volume.
