Ronaldo’s August 2026 Vogue interview, in which he stated this is “probably my last year of football,” remains the dominant factor shaping trader sentiment on his next club. With his Al-Nassr contract running through June 2027 and the 41-year-old already planning post-career activities, the implied probability of any transfer has collapsed. Earlier 2026 speculation around MLS sides, Sporting CP, or even Real Madrid has faded amid the retirement signal and his continued play in the Saudi Pro League under Ange Postecoglou. The fragmented market across dozens of MLS clubs at sub-2% levels reflects a broad lack of credible, recent links rather than targeted interest in any one destination, leaving the field wide open while underscoring the strong consensus that a move before retirement is unlikely.
