Elena Rybakina captured the 2026 US Open women's singles title by defeating Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 in the final at Arthur Ashe Stadium, securing her third major championship and the world No. 1 ranking for the first time. Traders priced the market at near-certainty for Rybakina because she entered the final as the top seed or co-favorite with strong recent hard-court form, including an Australian Open victory over the same opponent earlier in the year, superior serving and return consistency in key moments, and a direct path that eliminated top competition en route. Sabalenka, the two-time defending champion and pre-tournament No. 1, showed vulnerability under pressure with unforced errors and an inability to maintain momentum after taking the second set. With the final completed and official results confirmed, resolution hinges solely on the tournament outcome; only an unprecedented post-match ruling or disqualification could alter the result at this stage.
