Trader consensus reflects a razor-thin edge for Jan-Lennard Struff at 50% implied probability in his third-round BMW Open matchup against Francisco Cerundolo, balancing the German's home-crowd boost and defending champion status from 2025 against Cerundolo's higher No. 19 ranking and 1-0 head-to-head lead. Both players stumbled early at Monte Carlo last week—Struff in qualifiers to Basilashvili on April 4, Cerundolo in the main draw R32 to Machac—highlighting clay vulnerabilities amid Struff's recent dip to around No. 78 and Cerundolo's recovery from a February Rio retirement. Struff's wild-card entry followed Jakub Mensik's withdrawal yesterday, fueling Munich momentum, while Cerundolo's baseline grinding suits the outdoor clay. Late injury updates or rain delays could sway the closely contested affair.
