The Cincinnati Reds hold the clearest edge in the 2026 MLB season’s Automated Ball-Strike challenge system, posting the league’s top success rate near 64 percent through the All-Star break on roughly 219 attempts. Their advantage stems from disciplined execution by catchers such as Tyler Stephenson, who has converted over 70 percent of his reviews, and batters including rookie Sal Stewart, who leads the majors in successful batter-initiated overturns. The club has combined selective timing—often using early challenges to calibrate umpire zones—with strong individual pitch-framing instincts, allowing them to sustain the highest combined batter-catcher-pitcher rate even while ranking below several clubs in total volume. Late-season injuries to key challengers, shifts in opposing umpire tendencies, or accelerated improvement by mid-tier clubs could narrow the gap before the regular season concludes.
