The Swiss National Bank’s September 24 assessment carries a 95.2% market-implied probability of no change at the current 0% policy rate, reflecting trader consensus that inflation remains well anchored within the 0-2% price-stability range. Recent data show consumer prices at 0.8% year-over-year in August after a modest energy-driven uptick, while medium-term forecasts from the June assessment project 0.6% averages for 2026 and 2027 under unchanged policy. Low underlying pressures, a neutral-to-accommodative stance near the estimated neutral rate, and the SNB’s emphasis on Swiss franc stability over rate adjustments reinforce expectations of a prolonged hold. A sharper-than-anticipated inflation spike or rapid franc appreciation that threatens export competitiveness could still prompt a shift, though both appear low-probability near-term catalysts.
