Joshua Van’s rematch against former flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 331 featured the 24-year-old Myanmar-born titleholder defending against the 36-year-old Brazilian in a five-round main event at Crypto.com Arena. The first meeting at UFC 323 ended in 26 seconds when Pantoja suffered an elbow dislocation, leaving Van’s prior victory open to debate and prompting frequent pre-fight commentary on the need for a definitive result. Van entered on strong recent form after defending against Tatsuro Taira, while Pantoja sought to reassert his experience and grappling edge. Announcers Jon Anik, Joe Rogan, and Daniel Cormier were expected to emphasize the rematch storyline, Van’s youth and striking volume against Pantoja’s takedown attempts and control time, the fighters’ records, and title implications throughout the bout.
