Joe Pyfer’s momentum from his March 2026 TKO win over Israel Adesanya has elevated him into middleweight title contention, making a matchup against established top-five fighters the logical next step. Dricus du Plessis leads the market as the most prominent former champion with name value and stylistic intrigue, while Caio Borralho sits second after the pair’s August 2026 bout at UFC 330 fell through due to Borralho’s rib injury. Nassourdine Imavov’s recent unanimous decision victory over Borralho in Paris has kept him in the conversation as a high-ranking contender, with Brendan Allen and Anthony Hernandez rounding out plausible options based on current divisional standings and matchmaking patterns. Pyfer’s scheduled non-UFC grappling bout against Luke Rockhold in September does not alter the UFC trajectory.
