This market will resolve to "Yes" if Lionel Messi finishes as the leading goalscorer of the 2027 MLS Sprint Season regular season. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The 2027 MLS Sprint Season is the abbreviated 14-match Major League Soccer regular season scheduled to run from February 2027 to May 2027. Only goals scored in Sprint Season regular-season matches count. Goals in the 2027 MLS Cup Playoffs, Leagues Cup, Concacaf Champions Cup, U.S. Open Cup, international matches and friendlies do not count. If Major League Soccer officially presents a Golden Boot award for the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, this market will resolve according to that award. If two or more players finish level on goals scored, this market will resolve according to the tiebreaker applied by Major League Soccer, which awards the Golden Boot to the tied player with the fewest minutes played. If no single winner can be determined, this market will resolve to "No". If the 2027 MLS Sprint Season is cancelled, postponed after June 15, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or no leading goalscorer can be determined within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be official information from Major League Soccer; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Messi's age and the abbreviated 2027 MLS Sprint Season format—limited to just 14 intra-conference games from February to May—form the core drivers behind the near-even odds on whether he claims the Golden Boot. At 39 turning 40, the Inter Miami star continues delivering elite output, tying the 2026 scoring charts with 18 goals through early September while maintaining strong expected goals metrics. Yet contract extension rumors and reported interest from Newell's Old Boys introduce uncertainty over his availability for the full sprint campaign, where load management and a compressed schedule could limit opportunities. Strong competition from consistent finishers like Petar Musa and Evander adds further balance, with the short season's small sample size amplifying variance in final tallies. Preseason announcements on his status and early 2027 results will likely sharpen trader views ahead of the May conclusion.
