World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, the defending Monte Carlo Masters champion, faces Monegasque wildcard Valentin Vacherot in Saturday's semi-final on clay at Court Rainier III, marking their first head-to-head meeting. Vacherot's fairytale run has captivated the home crowd, with upset victories over Lorenzo Musetti, Hubert Hurkacz, and fifth seed Alex de Minaur in the quarter-finals—saving 13 break points in the latter—propelling him toward a projected Top 20 debut after a career-high No. 23 ranking. Alcaraz has looked sharp in his title defense, powering past Sebastian Baez and Alexander Bublik, leveraging his elite clay-court movement and baseline aggression honed on this surface. Vacherot's stamina and local support add upset potential, though Alcaraz's superior rankings, experience in Masters 1000 semi-finals, and recent clay momentum shape trader consensus toward the Spaniard.
