In the BMW Open second round on Munich's clay courts, No. 56 Daniel Altmaier rides momentum from a dominant 6-2, 6-3 first-round rout of veteran Marin Cilic, capitalizing on home-crowd energy and solid baseline play after a rocky 2026 start (7-11 overall, 7-5 clay). Challenger Alex Molcan, ranked No. 166, stunned third seed Alexander Bublik 6-4, 6-2 yesterday, showcasing heavy groundstrokes and resilience post-injury setbacks that plunged his ranking. No head-to-head history exists, pitting Altmaier's surface familiarity and recent clay uptick against Molcan's upset pedigree and fresher legs; weather holds dry for the outdoor ATP 250 clash, with no reported withdrawals.
