In the BMW Open by Bitpanda round of 16 on Munich's outdoor clay courts, No. 56 Daniel Altmaier meets qualifier No. 166 Alex Molcan in their first ATP head-to-head clash. Altmaier, the home favorite, snapped an early-season slump—marked by a 3-10 record and prior struggles—with a dominant 6-2, 6-3 first-round rout of veteran Marin Cilic, boosting his clay confidence ahead of a crowd-backed push. Molcan rides high momentum from qualifying triumphs and a stunning 6-4, 6-2 upset over third seed Alexander Bublik (world No. 11), showcasing sharp baseline play despite his lower ranking. Both clay specialists eye quarterfinal spots, with no reported injuries or withdrawals altering the draw.
