Third-seeded Sho Shimabukuro enters the Busan Challenger second round with a clear edge over Beibit Zhukayev on outdoor hard courts, driven by his No. 110 ATP ranking versus Zhukayev's No. 305, stronger 2026 hard court form (14-8 record compared to 5-7), and efficient 6-3, 6-3 first-round dismissal of Ilia Simakin with five breaks and 69% first-serve points won. Their head-to-head stands at 1-1 on hard—Shimabukuro's last win came 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in the 2023 Nonthaburi Challenger—yet trader consensus favors the Japanese player's consistency and 71% break-point conversion. Zhukayev showed resilience in a comeback 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 upset of local wildcard Uisung Park (12 aces), but his 22% break efficiency tempers upset potential amid no reported injuries or withdrawals.
