Top-seeded defending champion Alexander Zverev faces Miomir Kecmanovic in the BMW Open by Bitpanda first round on Munich's outdoor clay courts, where the German world No. 3 boasts a stellar home record as a three-time titlist. Zverev enters seeking revenge after Kecmanovic's upset 6-3, 6-7(3), 7-6(4) win over him in Acapulco's second round this February on hard courts, though clay tilts sharply in Zverev's favor with superior surface history and recent Monte Carlo form despite an early-round ankle scare that's now resolved. Kecmanovic, ranked No. 59, arrives off middling results including a Monte Carlo second-round loss, lacking Zverev's baseline power and crowd support in this ATP 500 opener; head-to-head favors Zverev overall but highlights the Serb's competitive edge in tight sets.
