**June 2026 JOLTS data showed job openings falling sharply to 7.359 million, missing consensus estimates of 7.40 million and marking a notable step down from May’s 7.594 million.** This decline, concentrated in healthcare, leisure, and business services, signaled softening labor demand amid stable but low hiring and separation rates. The weak July ADP private payrolls print of just 44,000 added further weight, coming in well below forecasts and highlighting potential moderation heading into the July JOLTS release scheduled for September 1. With outcomes clustered tightly around the 7.4–7.6 million range and probabilities nearly even between the top bins, traders are weighing whether the recent cooling trend persists or stabilizes near recent levels. Broader context includes a still-resilient unemployment rate near 4.2% and contained layoff activity, which keeps the labor market from signaling outright weakness while supporting expectations for measured monetary policy. Upcoming nonfarm payrolls and additional high-frequency indicators will likely refine positioning ahead of the report.

This market will resolve to the bracket containing the seasonally adjusted total number of job openings for the total nonfarm sector in July 2026, as reported in the monthly JOLTS report published by the BLS.
The resolution source for this market will be the BLS Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey report released for July 2026 (https://www.bls.gov/jlt/), currently scheduled to be released on September 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM ET. Resolution of this market will take place upon release of the aforementioned data.
Note: the resolution source for this market will be the official monthly JOLTS report, which reports job openings in thousands of openings.
