Nominations for the 2026 VMAs Best Latin category, announced in mid-August, established a tight seven-way contest among “Choka Choka,” “Dai Dai,” “La Perla,” “Papasito,” “Tu Sancho,” “Nuevayol,” and “La Villa,” with fan voting open through September 25 ahead of the September 27 ceremony. Trader sentiment currently favors the two Shakira collaborations—“Choka Choka” with Anitta and “Dai Dai” with Burna Boy—reflecting the Colombian star’s dual entries, strong streaming metrics since their April and subsequent releases, and broad Latin-pop crossover appeal. Differentiating factors include “Choka Choka”’s earlier chart momentum and high-profile SNL performance versus “Dai Dai”’s recent promotional push, while Rosalía’s critically noted “La Perla” and Karol G’s “Papasito” trail on market-implied odds amid competition from reggaeton and regional Mexican entries. The outcome hinges on final fan-vote turnout and any last-minute performance or streaming surges.
