Ed Ruscha’s auction market has shown resilience heading into the October 7, 2026, Sotheby’s Contemporary Curated sale, where “Cities Across the Globe” is slated to appear. Strong 2025–2026 results for works on paper and prints, including multiple lots exceeding high estimates, reflect sustained collector interest in his text-and-landscape imagery even as the broader contemporary sector remains selective. A 2024 artist record near $68 million for a landmark 1960s painting continues to anchor sentiment, while consistent sell-through rates and institutional visibility support pricing expectations for mid-tier lots. The tight timeline to the hammer—coupled with any pre-sale estimates or comparable results—will likely drive the final realized price and trader positioning on the various price-threshold markets.
