Ava Hrastar and Emma Jackson, both American players with strong NCAA backgrounds, meet in the first round of the ITF W35 Decatur on outdoor hard courts. Jackson, ranked No. 108 in the ITF standings and around No. 908 on the WTA, enters with recent ITF experience including a prior appearance at this event, while Hrastar, lower-ranked near No. 825 WTA, comes off a straight-sets loss in a lower-tier W15 event. Neither holds a head-to-head record against the other, and both have compiled solid collegiate singles results before transitioning more fully to the pro circuit. The hard-court surface favors their baseline styles, with Jackson's higher ranking and ITF points reflecting marginally greater recent consistency in similar events.
