Malaika Rapolu enters the ITF W100 Sumter round of 16 on outdoor hard courts holding a clear ranking advantage at WTA 488 over Maria Sholokhova’s 748. The pair met just nine days earlier in an ITF W35 Wichita final, where Rapolu prevailed in three sets after dropping a tight second-set tiebreak. Rapolu has shown consistent recent form with straight-set wins in Sumter qualifying and main draw, while Sholokhova, a recent ITA All-American champion transitioning from college tennis at Wisconsin, brings strong baseline consistency but limited professional hard-court experience at this level. Surface preference and match fitness favor the higher-ranked American in this rematch.
