Roy Lichtenstein’s “Green Head” heads to Sotheby’s Contemporary Curated sale on October 7, 2026, amid robust momentum in the artist’s market. Estate works have posted sell-through rates above 99 percent, with average lot prices nearly doubling year-over-year as collectors chase consistent supply from the Lichtenstein Foundation dispersals. Recent strong results for paintings, collages, and prints from the Brushstroke and Nudes series reflect broad institutional and private demand. The mid-October opening of the Whitney Museum’s “Roy Lichtenstein: Like New” retrospective, featuring major loans, should further elevate visibility just ahead of November evening sales. Traders are watching these factors for signals on whether the work clears the various price thresholds in the curated auction.
