Cleveland Guardians (14-11, second in AL Central) hold an edge heading into Friday's series opener at Rogers Centre against the injury-plagued Toronto Blue Jays (9-13, fifth in AL East), where Gavin Williams (3-1, 2.12 ERA) starts for Cleveland against a Blue Jays pitcher TBD. Toronto's roster depth is tested by recent 10-day injured list placements for George Springer (fractured toe, April 11), Alejandro Kirk (thumb surgery, six weeks out), Addison Barger (ankle), and pitchers Jose Berrios (elbow stress fracture) and Lazaro Estrada (shoulder), contributing to their sluggish start. Guardians activated reliever Hunter Gaddis on April 13 and remain relatively healthy beyond SS Gabriel Arias' hamstring strain, with Cleveland owning a 7-5 edge in recent head-to-head matchups.
