Both teams enter this MLB series at Target Field with underwhelming 2026 records, the Houston Astros at 19-30 and fourth in the AL West while the Minnesota Twins sit at 22-26 and third in the AL Central. Recent form favors the Twins after they took the opener behind Josh Bell’s multi-homer output and strong pitching from Tatsuya Imai. Houston’s injury list includes several relievers and outfielder Jake Meyers, limiting depth in the bullpen and lineup. The Astros hope to snap a road skid with improved starting pitching and return of key bats like Jeremy Peña. Weather, bullpen matchups, and late-inning execution at the Twins’ home park remain key variables that could shift momentum in either direction.
