Both the Kansas City Royals (36-54) and Baltimore Orioles (42-49) enter their upcoming series well below .500 and far from playoff contention in their respective divisions. The Royals have posted one of the AL’s weaker records, with recent results reflecting ongoing struggles in run prevention and consistency, while the Orioles sit fourth in the AL East amid offensive and pitching inconsistencies. Baltimore’s bullpen faces added pressure from multiple relievers, including Ryan Helsley, on the injured list with elbow discomfort. Series outcomes will likely hinge on starting pitching matchups, home-field factors at Camden Yards, and whether Baltimore’s lineup can capitalize on opportunities against a Royals staff that has allowed high run totals this season.
