The Milwaukee Brewers (85-52) enter the four-game series at Wrigley Field holding a commanding NL Central lead, while the Cubs (77-59) sit 8 games back and fight for a wild-card spot. Recent form favors Milwaukee, which has gone 7-3 in its last 10 games behind a deep rotation anchored by Kyle Harrison’s strong 2026 numbers. Chicago’s staff has been thinned by multiple injuries, including to starters Ben Brown and Edward Cabrera, forcing reliance on less-tested arms like Colton Holmes for the August 31 matchup. Head-to-head results this season show Milwaukee dominating early meetings, though the Cubs have stolen wins in extra innings. Key factors include the Brewers’ home/road splits, bullpen depth, and the Cubs’ need for series wins to close the gap before September roster expansion.
