The Chicago Cubs enter their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates amid a nine-game losing streak, capped by a 2-1 defeat on May 25 in which Henry Davis delivered a seventh-inning go-ahead homer. At 29-25, the Cubs sit third in the NL Central, while the Pirates stand at 28-26 and fifth in the division after the victory. Pittsburgh has capitalized on Chicago’s recent offensive struggles and bullpen inconsistencies, with the Cubs posting just six hits in the latest matchup. The teams meet again at PNC Park on May 26–28, where the Pirates will look to extend Chicago’s skid amid a tight divisional race and the Cubs’ search for momentum before a challenging stretch ahead.
