Both clubs hover at 5-6 records in the standings, reflecting subpar starts amid pitching woes—Cubs' rotation decimated by Cade Horton's season-ending elbow surgery and Matthew Boyd's 15-day IL stint for biceps strain, plus Seiya Suzuki on the 10-day IL. Rays' bullpen thinned by Edwin Uceta and Garrett Cleavinger's injuries. Trader focus centers on probable pitchers, lineup health from official injury reports, and home-field edge for Rays in any rubber match, with no major weather factors indoors.
