**Flu activity follows strong seasonal patterns, with hospitalization rates typically reaching their annual minimum during summer months due to reduced transmission in warmer conditions and lower viral circulation.** Week 31 (August 2–8, 2026) falls squarely in this off-season period, when CDC FluSurv-NET data have consistently shown weekly rates at or below 0.1 per 100,000 population in recent comparable weeks (e.g., 0.1 in Week 21 and minimal activity reported through Week 29–30). Current surveillance indicates continued low influenza circulation nationally, with no atypical summer outbreaks or shifts in reporting that would elevate rates. Traders assign the highest implied probability (81.5%) to <0.1, reflecting this established climatological and epidemiological baseline; the lower probabilities for =0.1 (25.0%) or >0.1 (45.0%) align with the narrow historical range for summer weeks and the absence of near-term catalysts such as unusual variants or surveillance anomalies. Updated CDC FluView data for Week 31, expected shortly after resolution, will confirm the final rate.

The resolution source for this market will be CDC FluView / FluSurv-NET (see: https://www.cdc.gov/fluview/index.html). If the FluSurv-NET hospitalization rate for the specified week is not released by 11:59 PM ET on the tenth calendar day following the date of the prior FluView weekly report release, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket.
CDC FluView reports the weekly FluSurv-NET hospitalization rate per 100,000 population to one decimal point (e.g., 0.1). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
Note: Only the CDC FluSurv-NET weekly hospitalization rate per 100,000 population for the specified week will qualify, regardless of the cumulative influenza-associated hospitalization rate, estimates, projections, state-level reports, or other influenza surveillance metrics published by the CDC or other sources.
