Both exited early from the recent ITTF World Cup Macao 2026 group stage—Hayata losing 1-3 to Qin Yuxuan after a competitive start, Lutz falling 2-3 to Kuai Man in a grueling five-game battle that showcased her resilience against elite spin and pace. Absent head-to-head history, Hayata's Olympic bronze-medal experience and consistent top-10 form contrast Lutz's surging momentum from upsets like her 3-1 win over Amy Wang. Late fitness updates or service dominance could tip probabilities, as table tennis hinges on execution in best-of-seven format.
