Recent U.S. labor market data point to a modest cooling trend, anchoring trader consensus for the August unemployment rate around 4.1% to 4.3%. July nonfarm payrolls showed continued but slower job gains alongside a slight uptick in the jobless rate, while initial claims and other leading indicators reinforce expectations of stability rather than sharp movement. With probabilities closely split, weekly claims releases, any downward revisions to prior months, and broader signals on hiring and wage growth remain key swing factors that could reallocate odds ahead of the early-September BLS report. Federal Reserve communications on employment conditions further shape sentiment in this contested range.
